One Single Impression: Love

The prompt from onesingleimpression is love.  I am doing an encore of a poem I wrote in February.  I hope you enjoy!!

In the City

In the city, he tries to come clean
get lost in all the noise,
the cacophony like a Greek chorus
gone mad.

The shoosh of the subway
slides into the station,
her whispers remain against his ear
her voice like the whip of a flag
waving over a foreign territory.

Her body lying still, covers her thoughts
like a soft sand.

He finds his way up the stairs,
the buildings stare down at him
like sentinels guarding some secret
of a lost age.

How huge and small he feels
as he finds his way among the dead
faces, he's never felt more awake
or more

A clogged artery
the dog that barks at night
the sidewalk has failed.

Haiku Bones: Miracles

This week's prompt from haikubones is miracles.

Bee in sudden flight;
vibrating pink like a note.
Sweet, the small miracles.

One Single Impression: Floating

The prompt from onesingleimpression is floating.

On a warm Spring day,
All is soft, grass, down, water.
My mind floats away.

Haiku Bones: Dew on Grass

The prompt from haikubones this week is dew on grass.

Thoughts cling like rapid
dreams, half circles, translucent, pure;
like new dew on grass.

Haiku Bones: Birdhouse

The prompt this week from haikubones is birdhouse--cool prompt!  Here is my haiku:

Frozen Earth groans with
the weight of ice; your warmth builds
a birdhouse in my heart.

One Single Impression: Trembling

The prompt from OSI this week is trembling.  Here is my go at it.

Water mirrors blue;
perfect, still. Gentle winds come,
cerulean sky trembling.

Friday Shoot Out: New Moon: Dark Side of Vineland

This week’s topic comes from Nanu at She has a great blog so check it out!

When I think of the dark side of my town,  I do not necessarily think of something negative or evil.  I think of the beauty of things we don't notice much of the time; things in shadow or hidden. The dark side of beauty has something mysterious and charismatic about it.

I hope you enjoyed the dark side!
