One Single Impression: Icarus

The prompt from onesingleimpression is Icarus.

The long morning stretched
itself over the Earth,
a thin layer of heat and fire.

How cool the ocean
which reached up its
arms to brush the sky.

Don't don't don't
Daedalus whispers
in his son's ears;
moderation, my boy.

Those words
hung in the air
as Icarus rose
to taste fire.

Water cools and welcomes
into its deadly heaven.

  2. I think the tragedy is not in our own shortcomings but in our failure to listen to our fathers.

  5. I like your poem a lot. It is a commentary on life between a father and son. Our job is to alleviate the tragedies in the end, during the growing up process. Well said.
