Friday Shoot-Out: Urban Macro

This week's theme for FSO is urban macro.  I think it is a great idea.  Macro is usually focused on natural images so this was kind of an interesting twist.
I hope you enjoyed my take on the theme.  If you are interested, I recently wrote a city-inspired poem: In the City.  I think the lesson of this assignment is how rampant beauty is.  It can be found in the most mundane of places.  Even places that may not seem overtly beautiful, the close-up details can show a different aspect of it where its beauty can be appreciated.  I think the really great photographers who do Macro show this idea in their work.  It is definitely my goal with photography, although it is sometimes a challenge being totally inexperienced with it and having limited technical knowledge.  The FSO has taught me a lot and I love learning from looking at what others have done.  Well, I hope you enjoy and I am off to enjoy my last night as a 35 year old!

  2. I did enjoy your work, and yes this weeks topic (for me) was about learning more about photograghy. it is easy to see the beauty in the vista (panarama) but the closer we look the harder it is to see the beauty until we get REALLY close. From what I saw this week in my study of the topic Macro isn't used mostly for nature - NatGeo type photos - but more and more it is about our man made world.
    great shoot-out

  6. How do you think they did the circular bricks for your last photo? Some, I see brick layers cut the brick after they are baked. But some of you seems to be shaped pre baked.

I almost wanted to do a circular light.

  7. like the rest I think the brick work is a great shot!! I agree with you commentary also. being in this group is fun to show off your town each week but also has been a learning experience as well as getting to know friends from around the world.
