Six Word Saturday

Why I named my cat Magnum.

Doreen from my reflections as I shutter along recently asked me how I named my cat Magnum.  I actually did not name him; he was originally my sister's cat.  She got him when she lived in Denver, Colorado.  I moved out with her when I finished my undergraduate degree.  She had another cat at that time, Simon.  When my sister was much younger, she was a huge fan of detective shows so Magnum is named after Magnum PI and Simon was named after the show Simon and Simon.  I'm surprised she never had a Remington Steele!  Magnum tends to be an anxious cat, but no matter how scared he has gotten, he has never become aggressive.  He is very sweet and gentle.  He is going to be  fifteen next month.  I am very thankful for my cats; they are an important part of the family.

Friday Shoot-Out: Storefronts

This week from FSO we have storefronts/favorite stores.
First, let me say I hope everyone had a
Now, back to the topic.
The above shot was taken at one of my favorite places, The Butterfly Pavilion in Broomfield, CO.  I took the picture because, frankly, I was snap-happy, which is the effect this place has on me!
I took this on my way to work in Sewell, NJ.  I pass this florist daily and they always have it looking colorful and beautiful.

These shots I took at a strip of stores in Vineland, NJ (it might actually be considered Buena, NJ which is next door; the town boundaries in NJ are sometimes confusing!)   I took these shots and made them black and white because it captured a certain ambience that attracted me.  I hope you enjoyed!

Quick and Late: Temptation

Here are my FSO shots for temptation.

Magnum knows he is not supposed to chew on the plants but can't help himself!
Who isn't tempted to blow away these seeds.
 Juicy and sweet.
 My morning temptation.
A tradition of creating temptation.

Hope you enjoyed!

If my blog tempts you, check out some of my other FSO posts:

Friday Shoot Out: Look Up

The fso topic this week is "look up".  It was perfect timing because I just got back from a trip to Colorado.

This picture was taken in Broomfield, CO.  It is amazing that people have this view right in their backyard!
This picture was taken at Look Out Mountain.  Going there was an amazing experience.  It was so peaceful, even with people milling around.  The views were spectacular.
Another shot from Look Out Mounain.
This shot was taken on the ride back from Central City, CO.  Central City has several casinos built into the mountains.
This was also on the way home from Central City.

Colorado is such a beautiful state.  Even when you just go to the grocery store, you are met with a breath taking view.  New Jersey seems flat every time I come back here; although nothing can beat our trees!

Hope you enjoyed!

I hope you enjoyed and have a good "night".
