Breathless, Running Through Woods

The first stanza is a haiku and I just kept going this time.  Hope you enjoy!

Breathless, Running Through Woods

A thrush beats its wings,
I am running and running,
The hollow moon laughs.

I am lost among
bones and regrets.

Rhythm of crickets
rises above the hushed woods.
I close my eyes, hushed,

crushed in my body
that I never really liked,
forced into dull, mad
gratefulness.

A thrush beats its wings,
God blinks,
her footsteps coming closer.

Memories of Yellow

For this post, I have decided to also use it as a poetry prompt.  Hope you enjoy!   For more, check out mytownshootout

Memories of Yellow

What have we done
in honor of yellow,
marked our books
with checks, then highlighted,
wiped our brow
under an ochre sun?
The blue moon hazes its way
through the night sky,
stars turning silver,
then golden, wink
their yellow mist.

I dreamed you once,
holding out your hands,
scattering and scattering stars.
Your face, your eyes, everything I had known of you
all of it covered in a haze, a menacing halo
of fading
yellow.

Friday Shoot Out Green

So, I was driving down the road today and at a stop light, I saw a bird standing on top of a bush.  I thought to myself, this would be a great picture!  It then occurred to me, I had not done the Friday Shoot Out this week.  Here it is, late but hopefully not out of date.
The above picture was taken at Wheaton Village which is a glass museum.  The surrounding grounds of the museum include paths and trees.  It is a great place to visit.
I took this near where I live just because I liked the contrast of the different greens.
I like the feeling of these flowers being about to burst forth with life.  Hopefully, we'll be seeing a lot of this soon now that Spring is coming!
I hope everyone found their pot o' gold this St. Patty's Day!  May you all be lucky!
